Improving Services While Cutting Costs

Oradell's budget was lower in 2010 than it was six years ago when Put Oradell First's candidates were first elected. Its most recent municipal tax increase was one of the lowest in Bergen County, yet Oradell's services have improved. Here are some examples of what Put Oradell First has championed:

  • Construction and Improvements of DPAC Athletic Fields on time and under budget
  • Negotiated contracts that reduced costs by $460,000 (for example, the new police contract saves Oradell $325,000 in 2010. The new agreement with UPSEU will reduce costs in 2010 in excess of $135,000 | Read article
  • Reduced costs for exterior summer maintenance via shared-service agreement with Oradell Public School
  • Secured garbage pick-up two times per week throughout the year, while reducing the cost of garbage collection by $50,000 | Read article
  • Worked with the County to improve Kinderkamack Road at no cost to the Borough of Oradell
  • By joining the Pascack Valley Cooperative, Oradell saved in excess of $45,000 in road resurfacing cost while the entire cooperative saved over $500,000. | Read article
  • Acquired storm water flow equipment at no cost to the Borough that should result in significant savings in our payments to the Bergen County Utilities Authority in 2010-11.
  • During their terms of office the Borough of Oradell secured in excess $3,100,000 in grants for innovative programs to improve Oradell's infrastructure and keep the tax levy as low as possible, including:
  • $250,000 grant to rehabilitate the Senior Citizen and Veterans Building at no cost to taxpayers promoting safety and well-being of senior citizens and potential for rental income | Read article
